Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician

The CRCST course covers, anatomy and physiology: microbiology, and infection control: decontamination and the sterilization process: and how to handel, care for, and identify surgical instruments. Marie’s Allied Health and Technical CSRCST course also prepares you for future careers such as, surgical technology and nursing.
WHAT IS A CENTRAL STERILE TECHNICIAN?
A CRCST or Central Sterile Technician works in the central supply department and operating room of a hospital, and outpatient clinics. The central service area is responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of medical and surgical equipment/instruments.
WHAT ARE THE JOB DUTIES OF A CRCST?
Central Sterile Technician are trained in the cleaning, processing, packaging, distributing, storing and inventory control of sterile goods, instruments, surgical trays and medical equipments, inside operating rooms and ambulatory centers.
WHAT CREDENTIALS ARE REQUIRED TO WORK AS A CENTRAL STERILIZATION TECHNICIAN?
Graduates of Marie’s Allied Health Central Sterile Processing program are eligible to take the national examination required to become a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
Classes will take place at Marie’s Allied Health and Technical Institute.
